The Hope of Transformation

I want to report to you, friends, that my imprisonment here

has had the opposite of its intended effect.

Instead of being squelched,

the Message has actually prospered.

PHILIPPIANS 1:12

The Apostle Paul would’ve related to us as we shelter away from friends, colleagues and our faith community. He spent many holidays like Easter chained inside a Roman prison.

And yet he wrote not just about suffering, but also about joy. He knew the secret of contentment, in both plenty and want. In Philippians, Paul reveals his secrets. He tells us to:

  • Notice the ways God turns bad into good, in us and through us.

  • Allow adversity to grow us, so we find satisfaction in what’s most important.

  • Remember, we can do all things through God who converts death into life.
