Stepping into the Unknown
Now the Lord said to Abraham, “Go forth from your country and from your relatives and from your father’s house, to the land which I will show you.”
GENESIS 12:1
We don’t have clear answers about the future of the marketplace. We don’t know how we’ll need to change our business model. Yet we still have to step forward and make decisions.
Abraham’s story was similar. God asked him to leave the security of his home in Ur and go to the foreign land called Canaan. He had to leave behind his network of people and his established way of getting things done. He had to learn new ways.
How did he survive? Through all the upheavals in his life, through all the impossible circumstances, Abraham clung to God’s promise for the future.
“I will show you,” God had told him.
Faith is letting the reality of the unseen rule over what is seen. It is looking beyond our present circumstances. Will you believe God’s invisible promise for a good future or look only to the visible, troublesome present?
