Moses: Humble but Strong

Moses fled and became an alien in the land of Midian

and became the father of two sons.

And after 40 years had passed,

an angel appeared to him in the wilderness of Mount Sinai,

in the flame of a burning thorn bush.

ACTS 7:29-30

Before Moses took on a big new leadership role, he spent 40 years in the Midian desert as a sheep herder. Throughout those years in the wilderness, God taught him humility and strength. So when God appeared to him in a burning bush, Moses was prepared for the intimidating new assignment: to lead the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt.

You too have an unexpected new assignment as a leader: to adapt your business to a post-pandemic reality.

The task will require humility. None of us have all the answers any more. We will all need to humbly learn new skills and find innovative solutions.

The task will also require God’s strength to help us dive into the task, even without all the answers. Moses felt inadequate, but he trusted in God’s provisions.

We must not give in to fear. God is with us.
